In October 2025, the salon celebrated its 40th year! Thank You to everyone who has been to the salon over the years!! We started on the second floor of the building next to where we are located now. This is a photo from that location. Kevin & I look a few years younger for sure.
Warmer weather is here! The humidity is coming, making curly hair clients needing products that help keep the frizziest at bay. Make sure Not to towel dry your hair back and forth, but squeeze, pat your hair in the towel to get the extra moisture out of hair. Taking a cool end of shower can also help with adding more shine in the hair. When applying body oils or body cremes, damp skin will absorbs the product much better and not leave the skin feeling greasy. When applying moisturizer to the hair, first squeeze out water from the hair, then apply a pea/dime size amount of product to hair, avoiding close to scalp. You may use a large tooth-comb at this time if hair is tangled. Rinse out.
Aveda's newest products:
Miraculous Oil High- Shine Hair Concentrate. It makes the hair feel 2x smoother.
Abundant Blowout Spray is a styling product to use on damp hair. Must shake this product before using.
Tousle Texture Dry Spray is a hair spray for only dry hair. It seems to be best for mid to long hair. Must shake this product first before using.

Scalp Solutions is for scalp care. The line consist of a daily Shampoo & Conditioner, After-shower Mist, once-a-week Exfoliating Treatment & Brush, & an Overnight Serum. The brush feel wonderful on the scalp. More people are experiencing scalp sensitivity issues, from just an itchy scalp to actual flaky buildup. If you are not shampooing each day, make sure you massage the scalp each day to get the blood circulation up to the scalp & follicales. This line of products really help. Uptown Looks Salon can do scalp treatments or sell the product, so you can maintain your scalp.
Aveda Plus., the rewards program, is much easier to redeem the points now. Uptown Looks Salon can redeem the points for product if available and when in tier 7, you can make a $50.00 service certificate to use in salon.
Mario has been busy in the Biama Glass Studio at SAA's main campus. He has a show in St. Louis in July. Mario is currently in Italy assisting a master artist thru the end of June.

*** Parking on the streets are free, but the city monitors the amount of time a vehicle is parked. being in a spot longer than the intended time can result in a parking ticket. Please read the posted signs to see what the allotted time is. On the block the salon is located, Washington & 5th Street the allotted time is 2 hours. Please don't
park in loading zone or handicap as the ticket fine are 50.00.
